The Intent of This Blog

This blog is intended to be a tool for the growth of whoever wants to use it. It is a daily journal intended to help us be more introspective. Every day I will do my best to supply a motivational quote, a Bible verse, a vocabulary word, and a personal message from myself. Use these if you like as motivation to improve yourself. Then, simply answer the daily questions provided honestly and see if it has an impact on your life. Zig Ziglar said, "If you don't have daily objectives, you qualify as a dreamer." Lets not be just dreamers but doers. Remember Martin Luther King Jr not only had a dream, he also had an objective. Thanks for reading, Jake

Steve Jobs

“People don’t want tablets, they want iPads.”  Prasad Naik
Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.  Ecclesiastes 9:10
Superlative:  “of the highest quality or degree”  New Oxford American Dictionary
If you’re not a fan of Apple, bear with me.  Steve Jobs, I was surprised to see that you died today.  I have never seen you in person, and I’ve never talked to you.  It’s safe to say that I never knew you.  Nevertheless I feel surrounded by you.  I bought your computers and I bought your iPhone.  I bought them because they were innovative, creative, and superlative.  There is a feeling of quality and thoughtfulness in all the products you created.  As I write this on my Mac, I’m enjoying multi-touch capabilities, iTunes, and memories of playing Oregon Trail on a Mac in the seventh grade.  Steve Jobs, I want to thank you for the products you’ve created that have changed my life.  Without my iPhone I don’t know if I would have ever experienced listening to the audio books that have helped me grow as a person.  I’m not sure The Daily Self Growth Journal would exist without the inspiration I’ve found in the Podcasts you made possible.  And I don’t know if my beautiful wife would have the success as a photographer she’s had without the joy of using your wonderful iMac.  I’ve never known you, but you have changed my life.  Thank you for your dedication to making people’s lives better.  I’m sorry you had to work until you died, but I appreciate your contributions.  I think we can all look to you as an example of a person doing their best.  You are an inspiration to many, and you will be missed.  "And now, one more thing..."  I’m gonna use the speech function you built into your word processor to help me edit this message.  Again, thank you.
Daily Journaling Questions:
  1. How did I help someone today?
  2. What act of kindness did I perform today?
  3. What did I learn today?
  4. Who did I love today?
  5. What about today do I want to remember forever?
  6. What are my goals for tomorrow?
Thank you for bearing with my note of appreciation to one of my heroes, Steve Jobs.
