The Intent of This Blog

This blog is intended to be a tool for the growth of whoever wants to use it. It is a daily journal intended to help us be more introspective. Every day I will do my best to supply a motivational quote, a Bible verse, a vocabulary word, and a personal message from myself. Use these if you like as motivation to improve yourself. Then, simply answer the daily questions provided honestly and see if it has an impact on your life. Zig Ziglar said, "If you don't have daily objectives, you qualify as a dreamer." Lets not be just dreamers but doers. Remember Martin Luther King Jr not only had a dream, he also had an objective. Thanks for reading, Jake

There is an Answer!

“It is our decisions, not our conditions that determine the quality of our lives.”  Tony Robins

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.  But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.  For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.  James 1:5-8

Upbraid:  “find fault with (someone); scold”  New Oxford American Dictionary

I think we could all agree, our decisions determine our conditions.  So if we want to improve our conditions, we need to make the correct decisions, right?  Well, maybe.  I guess we have to decide what it means to have a quality life.  Does a quality life look like a mansion on a hilltop with a view?  Or does it look like a hut somewhere in an undeveloped community?  For some it’s the hill.  For others the hut.  Quality of life has nothing to do with the satisfaction of our desires.  It has everything to do with the satisfaction of our souls.  Satisfaction can never be obtained through the fulfillment of our desires.  It can only be attained through the fulfillment of our souls.  But the question remains.  Being fallible people, how do we make the correct decisions?  How do we know what fulfills our souls?  James make's it clear.  In fact, it’s a recurring theme in scripture.  God want's to be our source of wisdom.  He is waiting for us to let Him guide our lives.  He is the one who put Israel on a path to the promised land.  He is the one who sent His Son to die for us so we could be with Him.  And He is the one who laid out His word for us to gain wisdom from.  He doesn't want to upbraid us, He want's to assist us; so that we can have better conditions in life than we ever thought possible.  When, where, what, why, and how we get there is up to Him.  So let's never forget to ask God what He thinks.  It's not likely we'll hear an audible answer in the form of a booming voice from up in the sky.  However, if we pay attention in faith, I think we'll discover an answer is there.  And usually it’s more obvious than we expect.  If the house on a hill requires a lie to get it.  It’s not for you.  If the hut ignites self-righteousness in your soul, it’s not for you.  God wants to grant us satisfaction.  However, His satisfaction never includes guilt.  His satisfaction is always a blessing.  I guess it comes down to the words of the classic praise song by Andrae and Sandra Crouch.  Jesus is the answer for the world today.  Above Him there’s no other.  Jesus is the way.”  There’s no blessing, no answer, greater than that!
