The Intent of This Blog

This blog is intended to be a tool for the growth of whoever wants to use it. It is a daily journal intended to help us be more introspective. Every day I will do my best to supply a motivational quote, a Bible verse, a vocabulary word, and a personal message from myself. Use these if you like as motivation to improve yourself. Then, simply answer the daily questions provided honestly and see if it has an impact on your life. Zig Ziglar said, "If you don't have daily objectives, you qualify as a dreamer." Lets not be just dreamers but doers. Remember Martin Luther King Jr not only had a dream, he also had an objective. Thanks for reading, Jake

A Resolution

“Every singer out there with songs on the radio is raising the next generation, so make your words count.”  Taylor Swift

I do not understand what I do.  For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.  Romans 7:15

Resolution:  “the point in a literary work at which the chief dramatic complication is worked out”  Merriam-Webster Dictionary

It's January 1st, 2013!  That means it's a new year, a new month, a new day, and perhaps a new you!  But New Years resolutions are so hard to keep.  Maybe it's because we make our resolutions too difficult.  Maybe it's because we don't really want to keep them.  Most likely it's because we're the same person trying to act differently.  The key to changing our actions, is to be changed inside.  None of us would expect to put dough in the refrigerator and get bread out.  No, we put dough in the oven, because oven's we meant to bake.  Refrigerators are meant to cool.  When we promise to change what we produce with no intention of changing on the inside we are in essence putting dough in the fridge.  If you want bread, use the oven.  If you want to love more, develop a loving heart.  But here's the key to changing on the inside.  God...  Let Him change you.  You will never be able to change yourself.  The more you try, the more you will fail.  It’s kinda like this.  By no means should you be thinking about an elephant right now.  Whatever you do, don’t think about an elephant.  There is no reason to be thinking about an elephant right now!  Now seriously, try not to think about an elephant.  It’s very difficult.  In fact, the very act of trying to not think about an elephant is thinking about an elephant.  That’s what it’s like to change yourself.  I’m here to tell you, the most effective way to change is on your knees.  It’s in prayer.  It’s in God’s divine assistance.  So for this New Year, let’s make a resolution, let’s make lots of them.  But let’s use the right key to unlock change in our heart.  Let’s ask our Lord for His help.  Above all, let’s make that our resolution.  To ask God to change our hearts.  If we do, I promise, January 1st, 2014 will see a different you!
