The Intent of This Blog

This blog is intended to be a tool for the growth of whoever wants to use it. It is a daily journal intended to help us be more introspective. Every day I will do my best to supply a motivational quote, a Bible verse, a vocabulary word, and a personal message from myself. Use these if you like as motivation to improve yourself. Then, simply answer the daily questions provided honestly and see if it has an impact on your life. Zig Ziglar said, "If you don't have daily objectives, you qualify as a dreamer." Lets not be just dreamers but doers. Remember Martin Luther King Jr not only had a dream, he also had an objective. Thanks for reading, Jake

Thank God For Cloudy Mornings

“For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.”  Audrey Hepburn

From the LORD comes deliverance.  May your blessings be on your people. Selah.  Psalm 3:8

Thank God for cloudy mornings!  And I don’t mean that in a slightly vain way because I love cloudy mornings.  In fact, I love a bright and sunny morning.  The other day as Whitney and I were taking the dogs for a morning walk she told me how much she loved the cloudy mornings.  They’re coolness and reprieve from the heat of summer days.  She’s right, when the mornings are cool and cloudy our un-air-conditioned house stays much cooler throughout the day.  I agreed with her on that point, however, I’m a little different.  I love to be woken up by a blue sky and the sun streaking through the treetops calling nature to wake up like songbird on a wire.  Fast forward a couple days.  I’m watching the news.  They’re talking about the fires in central Washington and Oregon east of us and how lucky we are that the weather patterns are coming from the west where the ocean air brings moisture and cool air.  The very same air that creates the overcast mornings my wife has been enjoying so much.  Sometimes what’s enjoyable for us means death for another; literally.  And while we shouldn’t let the bad things in life control our lives and our happiness, we should be aware that what we want, what we like, isn’t always what the world needs.  But I know you already knew that.  So here’s the larger lesson.  Look for ways some of the things you don’t enjoy actually help the world around us.  I know I’m much more thankful for cloudy mornings now than I was before.  They may not be my favorite type of morning, but for those in the path of a wildfire, they’re a grift from God.  And we should always be thankful for God’s gifts, no matter what they look like.  They provide for the esse of life.
