The Intent of This Blog

This blog is intended to be a tool for the growth of whoever wants to use it. It is a daily journal intended to help us be more introspective. Every day I will do my best to supply a motivational quote, a Bible verse, a vocabulary word, and a personal message from myself. Use these if you like as motivation to improve yourself. Then, simply answer the daily questions provided honestly and see if it has an impact on your life. Zig Ziglar said, "If you don't have daily objectives, you qualify as a dreamer." Lets not be just dreamers but doers. Remember Martin Luther King Jr not only had a dream, he also had an objective. Thanks for reading, Jake

Raised To Life

Raised to life
With Christ the Savior
In His name
A new Creation
Now our song with rise
Adoring Christ the Lord
Sin was strong
But Jesus is stronger!
Our shame was great
But Jesus you’re greater!
Excerpt from the song Raised To Life by Elevation Worship

And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. And the son said to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.” But the father said to his servants, “Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet. And bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate. For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.” And they began to celebrate. - Luke 15:20-24 (from Jesus’ parable of the prodigal son)

Accusation: “a charge or claim that someone has done something illegal or wrong” - New Oxford American Dictionary

A little personal experience. Yesterday, (Sunday Feb. 23, 2014), I witnessed a couple profound things. I saw the devil at work and I saw Jesus do His thing too. I saw death and I saw new life. I saw accusations and I saw affirmation.
Yesterday I saw a church (Elevation Church) from Charlotte, NC accused of success through manipulation. Isn’t it it funny that when a church is not successful for some reason the devil accuses God of being powerless to change a life. Then when a He shows His power, the devil then tries to attribute it to himself by suggesting manipulation, presentation, or entertainment were responsible. Presentation does help a church. Good music draws an audience. A pastor can influence a heart. But that doesn’t mean God isn't involved. You think God doesn’t like His music to be good? You think God is happy with a passionless leader? You think God doesn’t get involved in inspiration? God created beautiful, you don’t think He ordains it for His work too?
Yesterday I saw a grandmother pass away. You know, the devil’s first move was to accuse God of lying. He convinced Adam and Eve to disobey God by convincing them that God wasn’t quite open with the whole story. He told them they could be like God if they disobeyed Him and ate of the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. And he did a good job. Adam and Eve succumbed to the temptation and thus we die. Our death is satan’s goal. It always has been, always will be. That’s why he tempted Adam and Eve. That’s why he tries to shut down God’s ministries today. That’s why we are cursed with mourning. But death, although a reality, was never the goal of God. Rather a choice was His goal. Quite the opposite of what satan would have us believe. God didn’t want drones, He wanted free allegiance, He wanted love. And His reward is new life because He first loved us.
I also saw in response to the recent accusations, Elevation Church held a spontaneous baptism last night where hundreds were raised to new life in Jesus. And it’s that new life in Jesus that gives us the ability to transcend this life and be raised to a life with God after we die. And I saw that too. Don’t ever let the devil convince you that God doesn’t have the power to work in your life. That song that means so much, sure the tune is good and that helps, but God is working through it too. That church service that was so moving. It helps that the pastor is eloquent, but don’t forget, God has to be there too. That feeling of peace after a loved one’s death. It’s not just because the suffering is over, the hope of salvation through the Cross has something to do with it too. The devil has more tricks up his proverbial sleeve than you or I could ever think of. He’s an accusation specialist. Don’t believe a word he says. The Bible says of him, “He is a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” - John 8:44b Thank God for His Son Jesus, who died on the Cross and rose again from the tomb, so that we could also find new life in Him.
