The Intent of This Blog

This blog is intended to be a tool for the growth of whoever wants to use it. It is a daily journal intended to help us be more introspective. Every day I will do my best to supply a motivational quote, a Bible verse, a vocabulary word, and a personal message from myself. Use these if you like as motivation to improve yourself. Then, simply answer the daily questions provided honestly and see if it has an impact on your life. Zig Ziglar said, "If you don't have daily objectives, you qualify as a dreamer." Lets not be just dreamers but doers. Remember Martin Luther King Jr not only had a dream, he also had an objective. Thanks for reading, Jake

He Is Here

“If you see someone without a smile, give them yours.” - Dolly Parton

God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,
though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah
- Psalm 46:1-3

Effect: “the state of being or becoming operative” - New Oxford American Dictionary

He is with you. No matter where you’re at, He is there. No matter your activity, He is there. No matter your desire, He is there. It’s a scary idea. That fact that God see’s you wherever you may be. Because you can’t hide from Him. You can’t keep secrets. Not from Him. He knows you and your actions better than even you. However, God is not standing by, just waiting to strike us down when we fail. Our first tendency is to think of God as the almighty policeman, just hanging out waiting for us to slip, just so He can condemn us. It’s true, we can be condemned. But if you care, think of God this way. Think of God as our almighty rescue. Think of Him as our personal lifeguard in the crashing waves of life. Think of Him as our neighbor firefighter. Think of Him as an ever present help in times of trouble. God’s not shadowing us just to condemn us, He’s watching over us to rescue us from all life’s harms; including ourselves. You may have been raised a Christian like me. You may believe just like me. But maybe it’s been years since it’s made a difference in your decision making process. I’ve been there. I’ve always loved Jesus, but I haven’t always cared what He thought. Still, there’s always been an appreciation for Him. A thankfulness for the Cross. This isn’t a call to change your ways and be saved. Jesus is mighty to save. Rather, it’s simply a perspective of a God we can have a relationship with. He is awe inspiring and worthy of our fear and respect. Just like the most powerful, most loving father you could imagine, but multiplied many times. He is all powerful, He is able to condemn. However, He is also love. He is the greatest of loves. And all of His love is for you. Let that love into your heart and it will change you. Love is the most powerful tide that’s ever been devised. It’s able to break apart the shoddy things and wash away the excess. It leaves us bare and exposed. And it brings new life. Let His love affect you today and watch it effect change in your world. It’s a beautiful thing. It can put a smile on your face no matter where you’re at. Because He is with you.
