The Intent of This Blog

This blog is intended to be a tool for the growth of whoever wants to use it. It is a daily journal intended to help us be more introspective. Every day I will do my best to supply a motivational quote, a Bible verse, a vocabulary word, and a personal message from myself. Use these if you like as motivation to improve yourself. Then, simply answer the daily questions provided honestly and see if it has an impact on your life. Zig Ziglar said, "If you don't have daily objectives, you qualify as a dreamer." Lets not be just dreamers but doers. Remember Martin Luther King Jr not only had a dream, he also had an objective. Thanks for reading, Jake

The Leadership Of Service

“Leaders can let you fail, and yet not let you be a failure.” - General Stanley McChrystal

See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven. What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray? And if he finds it, truly, I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that never went astray. So it is not the will of My Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish. - Jesus - Matthew 18:10-14

Leader: “an organization or company that is the most advanced or successful in a particular area” - New Oxford American Dictionary

It’s in those days when I have no idea what to write that I have to trust God to guide my words. How often are we faced with the same situation? Maybe not in writing, but in life. We all need guidance. When visiting the sick. When comforting. When living with this world in sight. No matter what it is, we need a guide. Without Him we are lost. We’re easily distracted by our own thoughts and wisdom. The good news is that no matter how far we wonder, He’s happy to find us again. What you thought was a good idea last night may be killing you this morning. What seems smart last week is costing you today. What you created yesterday might break tomorrow. Still, He’s here to help. And He’s here to use us to help as well. When in doubt, help someone out. Because we have been put here to be commissioned as servants. We are His feet and legs and hands. We are able to lift spirits through kind words. We are able to fill hearts with our service. We are able to do more than we would ever think. But not as builders of our own empires. Rather servants in the Kingdom. We’ll mess up. You know that as well as I do. But the path to significance is under the bended knee of service. Jesus, the most significant figure to ever live, lived a life of service. He is a God of service. That’s why we call Him our Savior. You can’t save anyone without serving them. Everything we do is service. Whether we like it or not. By simply watching TV, we are serving the companies providing the programing. It’s when we choose to make our service about the good of others and not ourselves that we begin to make a difference for the better; that God can work in and through our lives. Try to think of something you do that will never affect anyone? It’s impossible right? Now think about what you’re planning on doing. Will it result in service? Will it help someone? Will it have a positive affect? Don’t let the possibilities freeze you, sometimes good actions can have bad outcomes. Even the best intentions can turn out badly sometimes. Through it all we still have to serve. That’s why it’s so important to start in a relationship with God. To know Him first. To understand what He wants for this world. That He doesn’t want His little ones lost. That He rejoices over just one saved from the wilderness. In everything we do, let’s remember that we are always serving. And let’s always try to realize who we’re serving. And let’s let God lead.

Daily Journaling Questions:
  1. How did I help someone in kindness today?
  2. What did I learn today?
  3. What am I thankful for?
  4. Who did I love today?
  5. What am I dreaming of?
  6. What about today do I want to remember forever?
  7. What are my goals for tomorrow?
