The Intent of This Blog

This blog is intended to be a tool for the growth of whoever wants to use it. It is a daily journal intended to help us be more introspective. Every day I will do my best to supply a motivational quote, a Bible verse, a vocabulary word, and a personal message from myself. Use these if you like as motivation to improve yourself. Then, simply answer the daily questions provided honestly and see if it has an impact on your life. Zig Ziglar said, "If you don't have daily objectives, you qualify as a dreamer." Lets not be just dreamers but doers. Remember Martin Luther King Jr not only had a dream, he also had an objective. Thanks for reading, Jake

Our Weakness - His Power

“Let Your love be my companion
In the war against my pride
Long to break all vain obsession
Till You’re all that I desire

Turn my eyes to see Your face
As all my fears surrender
Hold my heart within this grace
Where burden turns to wonder

I will fight to follow
I will fight for love
Throw my life forever
To the triumph of the Son

And I know Your love has won it all
You took the fall
To embrace my sorrows
I know You took the fight
You came and died but the grave was borrowed
I know You stood again
So I can stand with a life to follow
In the light of Your name”

- Excerpt from the song Love Is War by Hillsong United

And He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” - Matthew 4:19

Magnetic: “very attractive or alluring” - New Oxford American Dictionary

Have you ever noticed that the farther you separate two magnets the less they’re attracted? Of course, everyone who’s ever played with magnets has. A funny thing about my dogs. They’re kinda like magnets. The farther they stray away from my side, the less influence I have over them. It’s not that they can’t hear me, it’s just that they don’t listen. They listen and are affected most when they stay within arms length. We’re kinda like that too. Things that are far away. Things that can’t reach out and touch us. Things we can’t see… Have much less influence than the things that are close. That’s why it’s important to keep close to the things that matter most. I know the saying, “Separation makes the heart grow fonder.” But that only lasts for so long. Eventually separation makes the heart forget too. Because how does the other saying go? “Time heals all wounds.” Of course we’re not exactly like magnets, or dogs either. But there are always lessons to be learned from little things in life. The question is, how do we retain an attraction to the things we should? How do we remain influenced by the good? We won’t always be able to stay by a spouse’s or a child’s side. Other things will force their influence on us. And often rightfully so. The answer is found in something that is everywhere. Something that can be as close as anything at any moments notice. The answer lies in the Lord. Stay close to Him. Be sure His influence has sway in your life. Live within His reach and everything that matters will matter that much more. It will take a fight. But He’s already won the war. It will take a struggle. But He promises to be near. It will be hard. But so was the cross. He says, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” - 2 Corinthians 12:9b We’re all weak. We all need help. We all struggle. May we learn to stay close to Him so that His power can be made perfect in our weakness.
