The Intent of This Blog

This blog is intended to be a tool for the growth of whoever wants to use it. It is a daily journal intended to help us be more introspective. Every day I will do my best to supply a motivational quote, a Bible verse, a vocabulary word, and a personal message from myself. Use these if you like as motivation to improve yourself. Then, simply answer the daily questions provided honestly and see if it has an impact on your life. Zig Ziglar said, "If you don't have daily objectives, you qualify as a dreamer." Lets not be just dreamers but doers. Remember Martin Luther King Jr not only had a dream, he also had an objective. Thanks for reading, Jake

Lovely Thoughts

And God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day. Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God finished His work that He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work that He had done. So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all His work that He had done in creation. - Genesis 1:31-2:3

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is LOVELY, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. - Philippians 4:8

Lovely: “exquisitely beautiful” - New Oxford American Journal

Living to serve can produce a hard life. When we think about all the ills of the world; the hungry children, the starving mothers, the death of everything. When we realize that it’s our job to ease those pains, to help and to heal; we realize that life is hard, that the ugliness in it can drag us down and depress us. But… God created the lovely. He made everything beautiful. We need beauty in our lives. We need relief. We need rest. That rest can be found in the beauty around us. It’s been said that beauty is skin deep. I disagree, beauty runs throughout all of creation. From the surface it reaches towards the innermost parts. There is a beauty that lies on the surface. But there is also beauty on the inside. However, sometimes we have to decide what we want to see. Unfortunately, because of the damaged world we live in, ugliness exists alongside everything that is beautiful. Often it seems to overtake and overwhelm all of those beautiful things. But loveliness will persist if we decide to see it. We need to choose beauty more and more. To appreciate it more purposefully, with open arms. Let’s be loving to ourselves. Let’s choose to think on what is lovely; what is exquisitely beautiful. Of course the pinnacle of loveliness is Christ. There is no ugliness in Him. He’s the only one who has ever had, or who ever could, turn an instrument of torture into a beautiful symbol of hope. Today, let’s think on what is lovely and feel its rest. Let’s think on the beauty of the cross and realize the loveliness of Christ.

Daily Journaling Questions:
  1. How did I help someone in kindness today?
  2. What did I learn today?
  3. What am I thankful for?
  4. Who did I love today?
  5. What am I dreaming of?
  6. What about today do I want to remember forever?
  7. What are my goals for tomorrow?
Thanks for reading,

Jake
